Bob Rafferty

Bob Rafferty has over 20 years of experience involving government, government relations, and associations. His organization, the Rafferty Group, serves as a strategic partner with Advocacy Strategies. His long history in solving public policy challenges enables him to find innovative solutions for the important public policy needs and objectives of his clients.
He has worked closely with elected and appointed government officials in a variety of roles, including consulting with numerous state, local and international governments on strategic policy initiatives. He previously served as Chief of Staff and Director of the Department of Management under Iowa Governor Terry E. Branstad and as a consultant for Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack’s administration. Additionally, he served two terms as a state legislator.
He has worked with governments helping them deliver improved results through policy and process improvements. Those governments have included the States of Iowa, Louisiana. Maryland, and Minnesota, the District of Columbia, Eugene, WA, the Metro of Nashville, TN, Olympia, WA, St. Paul, MN, Wichita, KS, Jackson County (Kansas City), MO, Franklin County (Columbus), OH, Maricopa County (Phoenix), AZ, Salt Lake County, UT and the Republic of Panama.
Bob provides government relations services to various organizations, involving health care, children’s mental health, economic development, utilities, and education issues. He also manages the association for Iowa’s truckstops.
